Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

1. Introduction

Dock ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Dock team communication platform, including the website at getdock.io and the Dock mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create a Dock account, we collect your name, email address, and workspace information. We use passwordless authentication (magic links), so we do not store passwords.

Messages and Content: We store the messages, files, and other content you send through Dock in order to provide the Service. This includes text messages, attachments, reactions, and decisions you create within your workspace.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including device information (device type, operating system), app version, and feature usage. This helps us improve the product.

Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications on your mobile device, we collect device tokens to deliver notifications about new messages and activity in your workspaces.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Dock Service
  • Send you messages and notifications relevant to your workspaces
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Respond to your requests and provide customer support
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the product experience
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure infrastructure provided by trusted cloud providers. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

Dock's offline-first architecture means some data is cached locally on your device to enable offline access. This data remains on your device and is subject to your device's own security settings.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Within your workspace: Messages and content you post are visible to other members of your workspace, as intended by the Service
  • Service providers: We use third-party services to help operate our platform (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, email delivery). These providers only access data as needed to perform their services and are bound by contractual obligations to protect your information
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process

6. Third-Party Services

Dock integrates with or uses the following types of third-party services:

  • Cloud infrastructure for data storage and application hosting
  • Analytics services to understand usage patterns and improve the product
  • Push notification services (Apple Push Notification Service, Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver mobile notifications

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data and workspace content for as long as your account is active. Dock provides unlimited message history as a core feature — we do not delete or archive your messages after a set period.

If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Some data may be retained in anonymized form for analytics purposes. Workspace content may be retained if other members of the workspace still have active accounts.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your data from Dock
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@getdock.io.

9. Children's Privacy

Dock is designed for business and team use. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice within the Service or sending you an email. Your continued use of Dock after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
